Liberia: Al-Noor Foundation Invites Renowned Islamic Scholars to Liberia for Major Events

According to a release, the scholars are set to arrive on November 6, 2024, for a three-day stay in Monrovia, during which they will participate in several high-profile events.

Monrovia – The Al-Noor Foundation for Islam and Development in Liberia, in collaboration with several other Islamic organizations, has announced the upcoming visit of prominent Islamic scholars Mufti Ismail Menk, Sheikh Wael Ibrahim, and Dr. Muhammad Salah to Liberia.

According to a release, the scholars are set to arrive on November 6, 2024, for a three-day stay in Monrovia, during which they will participate in several high-profile events.

The visit will feature three significant events across different venues, aimed at engaging both the Muslim community and the broader Liberian public.

Public Lecture at Antoinette Tubman Stadium 

The release, issued through Ebrahim Konadeen Fofanah  Director, Al-Noor Foundation for Islam & Development in Liberia, said On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the scholars will host a public lecture at Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia, where they will serve as guest preachers. The event is free of charge and open to the public. The Al-Noor Foundation encourages all Muslims and well-meaning Liberians to attend this historic gathering.

Dedication of Unity Foundation Mosque 

The following day, Friday, November 8, 2024, the scholars, along with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, will dedicate the newly constructed Unity Foundation Mosque, located at Fish Market-Beach Side. This mosque, built to foster spiritual unity, will stand as a symbol of the community’s commitment to faith and development.

Symposium and Fundraising Dinner

The scholars will engage with the audience during the symposium, offering insights on various topics, including Islam, education, and peacebuilding. This event will be by invitation only and will be followed by a fundraising dinner to support future initiatives.

Al-Noor Foundation’s Contributions

The Al-Noor Foundation for Islam and Development in Liberia, a non-profit Islamic organization based in Monrovia, has been at the forefront of promoting Islamic values and community development. Through programs like dawah (Islamic outreach), Qur’an competitions, revert (convert) classes, mosque sanitation efforts, and youth symposia on nation-building, the Foundation continues to impact the lives of many. They also provide humanitarian assistance through the distribution of food and non-food items to those in need.

As part of the visit, the scholars will offer special prayers for the government and people of Liberia, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to peace, religious coexistence, and the country’s development.
