Islamic History Month is a nationwide celebration that seeks to share the history, heritage and culture of Muslims with fellow Canadians. For the 17th year in a row, Kingston’s City Council has proclaimed October as Islamic History Month (IHM).

According to a media release from both the Islamic Society of Kingston (ISK) and Muslim Societies, Global Perspectives (MSGP) of Queen’s University, the theme for Islamic History Month 2023 is Celebrating Muslim Women in the Arts and Sciences.

Organizers shared that a pre-launch event was held recently for the youth at the Islamic Centre of Kingston, featuring Hassam Munir speaking on Expressions of Faith: Stories of Muslim Women Artists in History.
