KUCHING: ‘Zakat’ payments to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) for Ramadan can be made online during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak general manager Datu Abg Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie said the payments can be made through Baitulmal Kamek, MyEG, Maybank2U and Snap N Pay Customer Portal.
In view of the MCO, payments cannot be made at shopping malls, government offices or through the village ‘surau’ or mosques where there will be crowds.
The alms are paid on the first till the last day of Ramadan.
However, he said the alms can be paid to 779 Amil Zakat Fitrah who are based at home in compliance with the MCO.
“All Amil Zakat Fitrah are supplied with Zakat Fitrah kits and preventive materials against Covid-19 such as face masks and hand sanitizers,” he said.
As is the norm in previous years, ‘Zakat Fitrah’ coupons are issued this year.
“The coupons are only distributed in green zone areas which are free of Covid-19 infection,” he said.
