SKOPJE — The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and the Presidency of the Islamic Union of the Republic of North Macedonia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sunday in Skopje, the Macedonian capital.

The MoU was signed by Sheikh Dr. Awad Al-Anazi, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, and Mufti Sheikh Hafiz Şakir Efendi Fetahu, President of the Islamic Union of North Macedonia.

The ceremony was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Albania, Faisal Hifzi, along with several senior Macedonian officials and media representatives.

The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation in several areas, including promoting Islam and its virtues through the exchange of research, books, and scientific publications.

It also covers organizing scientific seminars, joint training courses for Islamic affairs workers, and joint exhibitions to promote Islam. Additionally, the MoU includes participation in Islamic conferences and seminars and the implementation of their recommendations.

A significant aspect of the MoU involves collaboration on mosque maintenance. This includes exchanging experiences in training mosque employees and holding joint workshops on mosque architecture and upkeep.

The MoU further emphasizes serving the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah by exchanging experiences in Qur’an printing and translation, and providing copies of publications from the King Fahd Glorious Qur’an Printing Complex. It also includes the exchange of invitations for Qur’an memorization and recitation competitions, sharing rules and regulations, and exchanging experiences related to Qur’an manuscripts.

The MoU also includes provisions for mutual visits and collaboration in related fields, aiming to strengthen religious and cultural ties between the two parties.
